Dragons are very reflective.  This may be why, in most cases, their intellect guides their decisions rather than their emotions.  Mortals appear to make most of their decisions guided by their emotions.  It is sad really that more do not stop to think about what this will mean in a day, month, or even turns later.  However, please note - touch a dragon's treasure or hatchlings and this is no longer true.  A dragon will attack first and ask questions later.

Many assume that dragons sleep a great deal; an error on their part that could end in their early demise.  Dragons spend a great deal of time thinking through possible scenarios.  By rehearsing possible outcomes and choices they could make in many situations, dragons are rarely surprised.  I wish that mortals would do this more often. 

Caution: Woe to the thief who tries to sneak up while a dragon is thinking, this is the first scenario a dragon plans out in all its possibilities.

If one comes calling with a smooth tongue and cloying manner, he does not wish you well.  Their words hide their motives.  Watch your treasure closely and do not let them get between you and your fledglings.  In fact, it is probably better if you just kill the deceiver before they finish their introduction.

Knights of red, stronger than any other, more aggressive than any other; at the behest of the Dragon King

If your enemy is secure than you must be prepared for him.  Whether dragon or an army, if your enemy is of superior strength, then you must evade him.  

If you face arrogance, than give your enemy a false sense of power.    Lay a weak path for him till you draw him into your trap that he may know your full power.  Such tempermental enemies are easy to provoke once irritated.  

If your enemy is taking his ease or his forces united, give him no rest till he is forced to seperate them. A tired army makes mistakes.  A tired dragon cannot stay aloft.

If your enemy's subjects are supporting him, then send in spies to drive a wedge and create doubt in the populace.  While he is busy, you can attack him for his attention will be divided and he will be unprepared.
